Many people (including the
producers of this film) are surprised to find out that Sir Graves
Ghastly (who is best known as a Detroit area host) spent a year doing
original shows at WTOP 9. However, in 1970, Lawson J. Deming--the
alter ego of Sir Graves Ghastly--was flying down to DC on a weekly basis
and creating whole new shows for a whole new audience.
In fact, Sir Graves was
doing two shows, one on Friday and one on Saturday. The Friday
show was targeted toward adults, and the Saturday afternoon show aimed
at a younger audience. The ad to the right was used for the first
show, which featured "Track of the Vampire." The Saturday show
that week was "Abbot and Costello Meet the Mummy."
Graves played the part of
comic vampire himself and was also inclined to lip synch old gag tunes.
